the "team"

So, I've been asked who is going on this adventure with me?  My Dad, Willpower is his trail name,  and my husband, Papawizzy.

My Dad, on the left in the top photo, is the one who started all this craziness! About 10 years ago he had surgery for an aortic aneurism and the doctors told him to walk to regain his strength and health.  So now he is obsessed with walking and hiking and with the Appalachian Trail in particular!  He has hiked on the AT several times, but hasn't been able to complete it, so it continues to call him.  Not bad for a 75 year old guy!  I'm excited to be able to do this with him!

Papawizzy, the love of my life, recently retired and is now getting us into all sorts of fun!  Things like bike riding (mountain bike of course), road trips and eating out.  So one day he says to me, "I think i'll go on the AT with your Dad."  Well I was fine with that.  Then after I thought about it, I decided that he shouldn't have all the fun!  I'm going too!

Mamawizzy - I love to try new things.  A friend of mine once told me that I love adventure,  but what I really think is that I'm afraid to miss out on the fun!  I also get bored, which is why at the last place I worked I think I had about 6 or so different jobs in 12 years!  By the time I had changed jobs a couple times, my employer knew I was game for almost anything and often offered me the opportunity to try a new job!

So here we are, a motley crew for sure!  I'm looking forward to the adventure, fun and education of the hike and spending time with some of my favorite people!

Blessings,
Mamawizzy

PS - I am not walking the whole AT, just for 2 weeks - I do have a job you know!

  1. First of all, that is extremely impressive for your dad! How cool that out of something that could mentally dabilitate one person inspired a passion for something else!

It's funny you talk about adventure...just last weekend while we were out on our bike ride together on our vision cast retreat, I was telling Jer that "being adventurous" didn't come naturally to me all the time. Sometimes I am if all the cards are right but it's something I want to be better at. Especially cause Jer is so adventurous. So you have inspired me even more to be better! Looking foward to hearing more! Hugs!

  2. Thanks for your comment Jen. Yes, my dad has always been impressive that way, I think that he has been an insiration to me in that area. I was enjoying your blog today - such great wisdom. It's a challenge to me to be more deliberate in how I live my life.

Hey, lets get our guys and go on a bike ride some time! :)!
