When you start with a bare piece of land there is a lot to do! And it makes it particularly difficult when you don't have deep pockets. So we are trying to take it a little at a time and do as much as possible on our own. The first priority is to clear the land and get rid of the POISON IVY!
We have several overgrown trees, a couple of dead trees and lots of poison ivy. A few days ago we started at one end of the property and cleared out a little using the tools that we currently have - a hand saw, a battery powered sawsall and loppers. We have discovered that we need a few more tools, like a chain saw, or a bulldozer would be even better!
The photo above shows the progress we made that day. It might not look like much, but before we started there were limbs and brush to the ground and now you can see the dead tree in the back that we need to get out! In the process we took out a lot of poison ivy as well . . . and now Papawizzy has a bad case of it :(!
One of the things we know that we need to do is get the right tools! So now we begin that process and we've started a list: chain saw, gas weed eater with a brush attachment, post hole digger, fence post driver, and various other tools that we haven't even thought of yet. We did make one purchase last week, as we call it, a ride-a-mower. And it came with a little trailer! Now we just need to figure out how to get it to the property - yep we need a truck too!
Blessings,
Mamawizzy
