the adventure begins ... again

Zion National Park

Spending the last month with my folks in Arizona was great. We were able to get a lot done to get their house on the market and get them ready to move to Texas. Lots of walks around the RVpark, bike rides in the desert and a killer hike on Granite Mountain Hotshot Trail in Yarnell. When I say killer, I mean a 7.5 mile hike of which about 6 miles was awesome, the last 1.5 mile almost killed us! The trail was designed by the families of the 19 Hotshot firemen who died on that mountain on June 30, 2013. It was made to replicate the type of environment the firefighters encounter as they fight these fires. It was beautiful, scary and awe inspiring, and by the time we got back to the truck I could barely walk!

On June 11 we hooked up the rig and headed out to California with a stop in southern Utah to visit family. We had a wonderful time with our son and his wife. We enjoyed seeing their new home and had an opportunity to take a short hike in Zion National Park. It was so spectacular! God's creation never ceases to amaze me! It was also pretty cool to see hot air balloons taking off each morning  from a field not too far from our son's house.

We made it to California without any drama and our rig performed beautifully! Now we are looking forward to spending time with family and friends, although with this Covid craziness it is a little difficult! We are currently staying in Sacramento and have been so surprised at the condition of the roads, the number of businesses closed and the amount of homelessness! Yesterday Papawizzy had the unfortunate experience of seeing someone just drop their drawers and pee on the sidewalk! It's sad to see that people are feeling so hopeless that they aren't even concerned about their dignity! We are sorry to see the deterioration of our beloved California.

Also adding insult to injury, Papawizzy's mountain bike was stolen during the night right out from under us while we slept! Someone cut the cable on the lock and road off into the night. However, they were nice enough to leave my bike! The thief apparently knew value so they opted for the more expensive bike! So sad! We just had them tuned up by our son in Utah and were looking forward to some rides on the American River bike trail :(.

The next thing on the list was to have the 100K service done on our truck. We called around, got some quotes and scheduled the service. As we were having lunch with friends, we got a call from the shop... the bearings needed replacing, so the bill went from about $1000 to $2600, yikes!!! So besides seeing friends and family, California has not been much fun.

We have another few days here and then we need to figure out where to go next. Our original plan was to head to Alaska in July, but since the boarder is closed, that idea has been shelved for the time being. We thought my folks house would have an offer on it by now, but no such luck. So we'll look at our options and maybe flip a coin, do we go north or east? So many choices! Oh well, we will see where the Lord leads.

Blessings,

Mamawizzy
