Washington & Idaho

We left Oregon and headed to Peach Beach Campark in Goldendale, Washington. It was a beautiful site right on the Columbia River! The river wasn't 15 feet from the back of our rig! It was super windy and apparently the area has a reputation for being one of the best places to boardsail in the world! We saw many people doing just that. Other than the wind for a few days, the weather has been beautiful! Temperatures have been mostly in the 70's. Makes me a little sad for those at home who are suffering though triple digit heat!

While we were in Goldendale we saw the Nation's first memorial to men who lost their lives in WWI. It was a replica of Stonehenge and was dedicated to 13 men from Klickitat County who died in that war. It was completed and dedicated on May 30,1929. Also while there we drove back across the Columbia River into Oregon and hiked along the Deschutes River. It was lovely and we ate lots of fresh off the bush blackberries that we picked along the way, yummy! We contemplated going back the next day and picking more berries, but we were too lazy lol.

Our next stop was at the Peaceful Pines RV Park in Cheney, Washington. Cheney is about 15 miles from Spokane, so from this spot we were able to look around Spokane and go to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. We went to the Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge in Cheney, and took advantage of their driving tour and some walking trails. It was beautiful and we saw our first moose!!! It's so fun to experience new wildlife. We try to notice different birds and animals. We're trying to keep an informal tally of what we see.

Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. What can I say. I have always wanted to go there and it did not disappoint! Not only was it breathtakingly beautiful, but it was like we time traveled back to pre-lockdown days. I would say there may have been 5% of people wearing masks. Everything was open. You could shop, try on clothes, walk down the street... And Coeur d'Alene Lake was so beautiful! There were people everywhere enjoying the beach and the sights. We were even able to go the the museum. It was wonderful! Then we traveled back to Washington and back to lockdown!

We left Washington and drove back though the panhandle of Idaho on our way to Wyoming. It was so beautiful and I would like to spend more time in Idaho in the future - especially since I didn't get my souvenir Starbucks mug!

Anyway, looking forward to what the Lord has around the corner for us! Can't wait!

Blessings,
Mamawizzy
