Montana!!

Montana! We loved it! Our God's creation is so amazing! We spent several days in Montana and made it to Glacier National Park. So beautiful! It was actually an accident that we got to Glacier. We were planning to just head east and then south to Arizona to get to my folks house. While we were staying at Rivers Edge RV Resort in Alberton, Montana, we talked with a couple who said, "you are so close to Glacier, you have to see it." So we took a chance and were able to make a reservation for a couple days. So glad we did!

It was really amazing that we were able to get a reservation last minute. Because of the "shut down" just part of Glacier National Park is open. Only the West entrance of the park was open and only one of 13 campgrounds is open, so that made all the other campgrounds in the area full. We were able to get in to Sundance RV Park and Campground on a last minute cancellation! It was about a 7 mile drive from the West entrance to the Park.

We took the Going to the Sun road as far as the Jackson Glacier Overlook because the road was closed a short distance further. The scenery was spectacular! We stopped at Logan Pass and talked with a Ranger there about the glaciers. It was interesting because it looked like there were lots of glaciers, but she said that there are only about 25 left. She said it is hard to tell which are glaciers because they look pretty much like the snow that hasn't melted yet. She said that a lot of what we see now will be gone before the end of summer. The Going to the Sun road was very narrow and it was necessary for us to fold in our mirrors so we wouldn't hit any oncoming cars or the side of the mountain in several locations! We saw a mountain goat on our way back out of the Park that day. We stopped and had a yummy lunch at a food trailer at the Park entrance before heading back to the campground.

The next day we went back to the Park and went on a short hike. Papawizzy made me nervous several times by standing too close to the edge of the river overlooking the rapids. My goal at this time is to be brave. The Lord says we do not have a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). It is a challenge sometimes lol! We saw a deer that didn't seem to be too scared of us humans. I guess they don't pay much attention unless you're a bear! There was so much talk of bear dangers that I was a little nervous about that too lol! I wanted to buy bear spray, but Papawizzy just decided that his gun would suffice. I think he just didn't want to spend the $50 bucks!

After leaving the Glacier National Park area we headed southeast to Anaconda, Montana and stayed several days at Fairmont RV Park. It was lovely. We took day trips to Butte and Philipsburg. Philipsburg was very cute. All the old buildings were in great condition and brightly painted. With the exception of a few main streets, all the roads in the city were dirt! One of the things that I have thoroughly enjoyed is the flowers. It seems like the weather in the north is very conducive to growing flowers, so many hanging baskets of flowers!

Our campground was near the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort, which has several pools, a 350 foot long, 5 story high slide (which Papawizzy and I took advantage of), and an 18 hole golf course. The pools are fed by a virtually unlimited supply of 155 degree natural hot spring water, cooled to various temperatures for comfort and maximum enjoyment.

We had a wonderful time in Montana. It is such a beautiful State. Papawizzy and I thought we'd like to live there, but of course we weren't there in the winter lol! We trust that the Lord has us where He wants us, and we will do our best to bloom where we are planted.

Blessings,
Mamawizzy
