changing my lifestyle

Do you ever think about the lifestyle you live?  How did you get to where you are and how did you decide what to do with your life? Mostly I have just wandered through life, taking things as they come and figuring that everything would work out fine. And for the most part it has - I know that God has a plan for my life, and it is good. But as I've grown older, I have started to think about some of the things that I've always wanted to do and realized that if I didn't actually make some changes in my life they would never happen!

So I have started the journey of changing my lifestyle.  And I'm dragging my poor husband with me :)! I grew up in a suburban neighborhood where everyone left their homes each day to go to work and school, and I grew up in the 60's and 70's when women's lib was the talk of the day. So even though I had a horse, loved animals and could spend an entire day out in the fields, I could never figure out how that could continue into adulthood. All I could see for myself was a career where I would work to make a lot of money and live in a house in a neighborhood just like the one I grew up in. The final blow to my country/rural existence was the birth of my daughter, when I gave my horse away to a young girl who had the time and money for him.

So fast forward thirty years, past many bends in the road, past the raising of our wonderful children, and I'm back to considering changing my lifestyle! But it's hard to turn a ship another direction and it takes a little time and lots of effort. And even though I could fill a large bookshelf with all my books on raising animals, gardening, cooking and the like, now I need to take action!

We have all heard the phrase, "the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step", so we have taken that first step in purchasing the land and now the journey begins!

Blessings,
