the waiting game

Truck's been in the shop for three weeks now and it looks like we have at least another week before it is released! Once we get it back we will hook up and head to Arizona. Heading to Arizona was the plan from the beginning so we could visit my folks and show off our new rig! Since they RV'd full time for about 10 years, they are excited that we are trying out this lifestyle. What wasn't planned from the beginning was COVID-19, a storm that took out our truck, and my dad ending up in the hospital. So now what? We wait. We will live according to Psalm 46:10, Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Life, it's funny you know. All the things that have happened to us as we began our "adventure", have they discouraged us, no! Have they made us stronger? I hope so. One thing I know for sure is that we don't always have a choice about what happens to us, but we do have a choice about how to respond to what happens. One of the reasons I write this blog is so that I will have the ability to look back and see the tapestry that the Lord is weaving and see that the choices I've made have had a purpose. Maybe I won't see the purpose in my lifetime, but maybe my children or grandchildren will.

With that in mind, I'm a little discouraged about how our Country has responded to the Coronavirus/Covid-19/Wuhan Virus. Whatever you call it, it (or the response to it) has caused havoc in our world! Why is it for the first time in history we are quarantining healthy people?! I understand quarantining the sick, but not the healthy. We need to build immunity and I don't think that can be done sitting in our homes wiping everything down with disinfectant and not touching anything! I'm not saying that the virus isn't a real issue, but goodness, does the cure have to be worse than the virus? So many people out of work, kids missing school, more abuse and suicide! There is risk in life. We all die, but will we all live?

We are Americans! Are we supposed to obediently fall in line with what the government tells us to do without asking any questions?! What happened to liberty? Our nation was founded as One Nation, Under God with Liberty and Justice for All! Our founders fought many battles so we could live in a free county and now you're tell me that I can't go to a restaurant, or a park, or the beach! People can't even go to work to support their families, unless they're "essential"! What does that even mean? Have you lost your income? None of the politicians or media have, so it's easy for them to say, stay home! Does the government know better how I should live my life? Does the government think I'm not smart enough to know if I should stay home? I think what happened is we decided that we wanted to be "safe". So are we willing to be told what to do so we can be taken care of? Do we no longer value liberty over comfort?

I guess I'm just venting a little here because I know this has been coming for a long time. We have allowed ourselves to be lulled into thinking that we live in America, a free country, a place of opportunity and it will always be this way. But have you noticed that there are forces out there that wish to, "fundamentally change" our country? And if we don't start paying attention and stand up for what we believe in, we will be living the life that our government tells us to!

Blessings and hope to be on the road soon!
